Volunteering with the North Durham Group

Do you want to make a difference to those affected by MS - If so this is for you

Volunteers are the key to our success both nationally and locally. We're a UK-wide community of volunteers, fundraisers, researchers and campaigners working together to stop MS.

So our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. The North Durham group covers Durham, Chester Le Street, Derwentside and surrounding areas and is led by a team of volunteers.

We currently have exciting team volunteering opportunities for three new volunteers to make a difference to the local MS Community.  You will become team members within an existing team whose role is to promote the presence of the North Durham group, to raise funds for the group in order that we can provide help and support to the local community and coordinating the activities of the local group to meet the needs of people with MS.  These are all hands on roles which include not only organising but taking an active part in the work of the whole team and the group.

Group Coordinator Our local groups provide services and support to make a difference for local people affected by MS. Our Group Coordinators use their local knowledge and leadership skills to organise and oversee a local group and its activities. This role is key to the effective running of the group and requires not only leadership skills but hands-on experience of administrative procedures and a working knowledge of IT.

Communications Volunteer is a vital role making sure our volunteers and members and the local MS community are kept up-to-date with both local and national news.  Our communication volunteers use social media and newsletters to make sure everyone from our MS community is informed about any MS Society updates as well as upcoming activities or events.

Fundraising Volunteer is responsible for organising and running the raising of funds for the local group. This is essential to finance the group's services, grants, events and activities for people affected by MS. Our Fundraising Volunteers plan and run events, develop links with local organisations and deliver awareness activities to promote the needs of people affected by MS.
