What's going on in North Durham?

Multiple Sclerosis Society North Durham Group runs and supports many events including Chair Yoga and Seated Dance. You’re sure to find something that strikes your interest. Movement in Mind (Dance for MS)  - New autumn dates released

Autumn Dates

The 14-week term will run Friday 9th September- Friday 23rd December. Off on 28th October during Half Term and 18th November due to Molly’s graduation celebrations

Why not start moving in 2022!

The classes are free but with a donation recommendation of £2.50 to cover coffee/biscuits

After the summer break classes will resume on 7th September 2022

New Year - New You!!

Exercise in the comfort of your own home

Do you want to try exercise from the comfort of your own homes, with an online tailored programme provided by qualified instructors?

Join us from Monday 17 January at 2pm for a free 12 week course of 45 min workouts; sessions include:

  • Ivengar Seated Yoga

  • Seated Boxercise

  • Strength exercises

Anyone across Cumbria and the North east affected by MS is welcome

Please note: You will attend an induction session before the 12 week course starts so you know what to expect. You will need a laptop/tablet/computer or smartphone with microphone and audio.

MS Research and Relief Outreach Groups

MS Research and Relief Fund (MSRRF) is a UK registered charity (No.228634) that aims to improve the quality of life of all people affected by MS.

MS can affect a person’s mobility, their independence and their confidence, and can also change the lives of their partners, families and friends.

They provide a range of services to help people whose lives have been affected by MS. In their seven centres and outreach groups across the North East of England, they provide complementary therapies and gentle exercise, completely free of charge to people with MS and their carers.

Users can take part in physiotherapy, gentle exercise classes, yoga and complementary therapies. In North Durham the centres are:

  • Meadowfield Leisure Centre, Durham, DH7 8RS Tuesdays 9:30am-12:30pm

  • Leadgate Community Centre, Consett, DH8 7PP Tuesdays 1:30pm-3:30pm

  • Belmont Parish Hall, Durham, DH1 2QR Mondays, Thursdays (Yoga), Fridays (Exercise) 10:30am-12pm

Note: You will need a completed GP Referral form before starting classes confirming your are fit enough to do the exercise. This form and more details can be obtained from MSRRF. See their website  or ring MSRRF on (01670) 505829 or email them at
